If the mare and foal are doing well after birth and the foal finds its way to the milk source on wobbly legs, the breeder is relieved and happy. By feeding the mare well during pregnancy and lactation, we can create the decisive basis for transforming the little hope bearer into a healthy sports and leisure companion

NOURISH FERTILITY
Three months before the planned mating date, the ration should have a high level of vital substances but a moderate energy value. Additional doses of Beta-Carotene-Mare-Y-Mix, trace elements (“MicroVital”) and nucleotides (“High Performer”) improve the ability to conceive. After successful occupation, attention should still be paid to micronutrient-rich but energy-adapted nutrition. At the beginning of the last third of pregnancy, you should switch to Equilac broodmare feed.

NUTRIENTS FOR TWO
The proven Equilac broodmare feed has been developed based on years of experience in thoroughbred breeding. It is suitable for all horse breeds. Equilac contains particularly high-quality proteins. In addition to an optimal protein-energy ratio, all minerals, trace elements and vitamins are combined in a need-dependent ratio that the growing foal needs for healthy development. Brewer’s yeast, seedlings, numerous maritime components and other suppliers of vital substances complete the recipe.

Nutritional advice:
As a supplement to the basic diet of roughage and/or pasture grass, we recommend:
From the 8th month of pregnancy: slowly replace the previous concentrated feed with Equilac.
9-11 months of gestation: approx. 400-500 g per 100 kg body weight per day, from this amount mineral feed is no longer necessary.
Heavily fed horses: additional linseed oil, Glyx-Wiese Lucerne Mix and/or grains.
Lightly fed horses: 50% Equilac and 50% Equigard, supplemented with vegetable herbal minerals.
1st – 3rd month of lactation: increase the amount to 600 g per 100 kg body weight per day.
From the 5th month of lactation: gradually reduce the dosage of Equilac.
Stop feeding the broodmare once the foal is weaned.
With a lower dosage or a supply shortage, we recommend using Gemüse-Kräuter Mineralien or MicroVital.

Nutrition tip:
Due to the higher levels of vitamins and trace elements compared to complete animal feed, this supplementary animal feed may only be fed to horses up to a maximum of 33.3% of the daily ration (incl. hay).
