Complementary feed for horses

Light feeding – grain-free & low-carb

When feeding easy to feed or overweight horses it is even more important to make a clear distinction between the need for vital substances and energy. If there have already been disorders in the carbohydrate metabolism or if these need to be prevented, a special feeding concept is needed: without grains, but with many important vital substances!

• Grain and molasses free grains (soft cold pressed)
• Very low starch and sugar content
• Rich in low glycemic fiber, with herbs, seaweed, oils and oil fruits
• Special mineralization to stabilize carbohydrate and fat metabolism
• Moderate copper content to improve the zinc-copper ratio

FOR A GRAIN FREE DIET
Equigard is used for the care of easy to feed overweight horses that require a low sugar and starch diet or are at increased risk of metabolic problems due to their constitution.

LESS POWER – MORE HEALTH
Scientific studies show that if there are metabolic problems, non-structured carbohydrates such as corn starch and sugar in the total feed ration should be reduced. Equigard contains approx. 80% less starch and sugar than oats and is therefore ideally suited as an energy-efficient feed for endangered or already affected horses.

FEED THE METABOLISM
Vital substances such as magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, omega-3 fatty acids, lecithin and antioxidants such as vitamin E and fruit flavonoids are particularly important for stabilizing insulin function, carbohydrate and fat metabolism.

OUR RECOMMENDATION:
Equigard is also ideal as a “standing diet” during recovery.

Nutritional advice:
As a supplement to the basic feed supply with roughage and/or pasture grass. From a quantity of approx. 200-350 g per 100 kg body weight per day, no additional mineral feed is necessary. The total amount should be offered in multiple rations. At lower dosages or shortages in the supply, we recommend adding Glucogard or MicroVital. Combine with structural energy and vegetable oils if there is a higher energy requirement (for performance horses).

Nutrition tip:
Due to the higher content of vitamins and trace elements compared to complete feed, this supplementary feed may only be fed to horses at up to 40% of the daily ration (including hay). Follow the nutritional advice.
